Happy Halloween! We're on Day Two of this spooky holiday weekend, and if you still haven't figured out a cheap and easy costume for the big party tonight, fear not.
Tweed Rides are a big trend right now, not just for Halloween, but for fun fall rides in general. Basically, you and all your friends get decked out in your best 1900's era tweed jackets (read: Sherlock Holmes-ish), ruffled shirts and tobacco pipes and put together a little pub crawl. Tweed Rides started in London as groups of cyclists decided to pay homage to traditional cycling clothing and though I have yet to do one, organized (or should I say organised) Tweed Rides are popping up all over the place and easy enough to put together yourself.
Other cost-effective cycling-related costume ideas include the injured cyclist - you can get gory with this one, and definitely a conversation starter about all the time you almost got hit on the road. If you have a little more time and money, online you can actually buy super-hero kits that are pretty hilarious and would make for a great motivator if you decided to ride it during your next century! And of course, there is always Pee Wee :)
